After rain pushed Game 4 to the following afternoon, the Detroit Tigers finished off the Yankees with a dominant performance both at bat and in the park. Yanks only managed one run, while their ace Sabathia was chased off the mound after the fourth inning.
It got so bad for the Yanks that Giraudi called on a benched A-Rod to pinch-hit, and he didn't do any better than he had in the rest of the postseason. To be sure, he wasn't the only one delivering, but then he's been such a lightning rod (no pun intended, not consciously, anyway) that most people didn't even notice the other eight sad sacks.
Meantime, the Tigers are going to try to keep their edge while they wait to see if they face either the St. Louis Cardinals or the San Fransisco Giants. (Judging from the latter's performance last night, it's starting to look more like the former.)
